San Diego Axle Repairs and Rebuilds

To be able to perform a high-quality axle repair, expertise and specialized tools are required. At Houston Rebuilt Axles we have over 75 years of expertise doing axle rebuilds and repairs. Not only that but we have the specialized tools required to perform them. As a result, you can have confidence in our axle rebuilds. One such tool is our lathe which we use to straighten and shape the axles. We are also able to provide our axle rebuilds to vehicle owners all over the United States. To do this we have courier services that provide door-to-door pickup and delivery of axles to people nationwide including San Diego.

We at HRA use high-quality Timken bearings in our axle rebuilds. Timken, well-known for their high-quality axle bearings is why we use them. We also cover our reconditioned and rebuilt axles under our warranty. This means you can have confidence in the quality of our axle rebuilds and repairs. From modifying a differential for off-road use to narrowing an axle for hotrods we also are able to modify the axles for any purpose.

How an Axle Repair is done

For the axle repair to begin our experts at HRA strip the axle down it the bare housing. To do this our experts remove the ring gear, bearing set, rotors, and axle shafts from the axle. Following that, we place the axle on our lathe for two main reasons. First, the axle needs to be straightened by using the lathe. Then, we can use the lathe to shape the axle to factory specifications. We do this to minimize any future issues with the axle. Any damaged axle spindle ends are then removed from the axle. By using our built in-house replacement spindle end we replace the damaged spindle end. We do this by welding the replacement to the axle. Finally, the axle repair process is completed by reassembling, painting, and then filling the axle with fluid.

Rebuilt Axle Assembly procedure

Axle rebuilds start off by removing everything attached to the bare housing. Our experts at HRA will then take the axle for a thorough cleaning. Next, we replace the ring and pinion set with a high-quality OEM ring and pinion set. We then replace the axle bearings on the axle. As previously mentioned we like to use Timken bearings in our axle rebuilds. Timken is well known for its high-quality bearings. We like to use a high-quality refurbished axle shaft for replacing the axle in our rebuilds. These axle shafts have been thoroughly inspected. If needed we can use a new axle shaft. The next step is checking if a rotor is bolted behind the hub. If there is, the rotor is either turned or replaced. This is done to ensure a brake pad can be applied. The last step is to reassemble, paint, and fill the axle with fluid.
