Repaired and Rebuilt Axles in Scottsdale

Has your axle been damaged? Need your axle or differential modified? At Houston Rebuilt Axles we can rebuild, repair and modify your axles. Our professionals have over 75 years of combined experience performing axle repairs and rebuilds. We are also able to provide our axles for purchase. To facilitate the repair and rebuild process we make use of some specialized equipment. This includes our lathe which we use to restore the axle back to factory specifications. We are also able to deliver our axles door-to-door to any location in Scottsdale. Also, we are able to provide this service and axle pick-up services to any location in the United States.

In our axle rebuilds, we make use of the best bearings in the industry. Timken is known for their bearings having the highest tolerances and of being of the highest quality.  Their bearings are also trusted enough to be used on the James Webb Telescope that was put into space at the end of 2021. Also, we offer a warranty on our axle rebuilds. This means you can trust our axle rebuilds. Another service we provide is our ability to modify axles and differentials for any purpose you may have. For example, if you need to modify a differential for off-roading or narrow an axle for hot rods.

Our Axle Rebuild and Repair Process

The first step is to assess the damage on the axle. If the axle is too severe then we will need to rebuild the axle. Otherwise, we will repair the axle. Rebuilding an axle is a more expensive procedure. This is because more components are replaced and more work is involved. Conversely, repairing an axle is less expensive. But, both processes share steps to restore them back to factory specifications.

The beginning of both processes starts with removing the components on the axle. Those components will be cleaned and then inspected for damage. We will repair or replace the components as needed. Then the axle is put on our lathe to shape it back to factory specifications. Any spindle ends that are damaged are then removed. We will replace them with our built in-house spindle ends. Finally, we paint, assemble and fill the axle with fluids.

In the axle rebuild process, the first step is to replace the ring and pinion. That ring and pinion will be replaced with an OEM replacement of the highest quality. The seals on the carriers are then replaced with Timken seals. Next, we will replace the damaged axle shaft with a refurbished axle shaft. That axle shaft is refurbished by our experts to restore it back to factory specifications. A new axle shaft may also be used. If the rotor is bolted behind the hub, that rotor will either be replaced or rotated to make sure that a brake pad can be applied properly.

What symptoms might you experience if you have a damaged axle?

There are many ways an axle may be damaged. This could be driving over a bumpy road with too much weight in the car, hitting a curb, or driving over a large pothole. If this happens, you may start to experience some of the following symptoms. If you do, you should take your vehicle to a mechanic to know for sure. These symptoms include:

  • Vibrations – If the axle is damaged, your vehicle will start vibrating and it will be felt as you drive. The vibration will be more prominent while turning the steering wheel as well.
  • Noise – An axle with a bend or a dent can cause the gears on the axle to become misaligned. You will notice a grinding sound as the gears turn together.
  • Leaks – A damaged axle can cause dents and cracks that lead to leaks. As a result, the lubricant may leak from the axle, causing the axle to not be properly lubricated.
