Axle Rebuilds and Repairs in Buffalo

Our professionals at Houston Rebuilt Axles have been performing axle repairs and rebuilds for over 75 years. We are here to help you with any axle or also differential issues you may have. If you are in Buffalo or the surrounding area we can help you. We also sell axles that we have rebuilt or repaired back to the manufacturer’s specifications. We also do this by using our specialized equipment for axle repairs, such as our lathe. Also, for vehicle owners in Buffalo, we provide a courier service to pick up and deliver your axles door-to-door to your home or mechanic of choice. We also offer this service anywhere in the United States.

Our axles are rebuilt and repaired using Timken bearings and seals. If you are aware of bearings then you know just how high-quality Timken’s products are. Their bearings are also being used in the James Webb Telescope deployed at the end of 2021. We also provide our warranty on our axle rebuilds. This combined with Timken bearings means you can trust in the quality of our axle repairs and rebuilds. Our professionals are also able to modify the axle or differentials for any purpose you may want to do. For example, if you have a hot rod you may need to narrow the axle for it. Or you may want to modify a differential for off-roading. Whatever your need we have you covered.

Our Process for Axle Repair and Rebuilds

We will first take the axle and assess how much damage has been done. Depending on the extent of the damage, the axle may need to be rebuilt or repaired. If the axle can be repaired then, even though fewer parts are replaced, it is cheaper and faster than an axle rebuild. Also, for the repair and rebuild process, both share some steps.

Our first step in both processes is to remove all the components of the axle and clean them. We then inspect the components for damage and if they need replacement. Afterwards, we will put the axle on our lathe and repair it back to factory specifications. We also check the bearings and seals to determine if they need replacing. Any spindle ends on the axle that has been damaged will be replaced by our spindle ends that we manufacture in-house.

For our axle rebuilds, the steps that differ are as follows. We will replace the ring and pinion with a high-quality replacement from an OEM. Then, for any axle carriers, we thoroughly inspect and replace the seals with Timken replacements. Following that, we take any damaged axle shafts and replace them with a refurbished axle shaft. These axle shafts have been refurbished by our professionals and are thoroughly inspected so that they are restored to factory specifications. If needed a new axle shaft may be used. Also, if the rotor on the axle is bolted behind the hub, then we will turn or replace the rotor to make sure the brake pad is applied properly.

What symptoms you may have if your axle is damaged

Your axle may have been damaged in any number of possible scenarios. These include hitting a curb a bit too hard, or not noticing a large pothole and driving over it. If the axle is damaged, the axle may present one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Noise – A bent axle can cause the gears on the axle to become out of alignment. You will notice a grinding sound as the gears turn together.
  • Vibrations – If your axle is damaged, your car will vibrate and even shake as you drive. The vibration can be felt while turning the steering wheel as well.
  • Leaks – Damage to an axle can cause cracks that lead to leaks. As a result, the lubricant may leak from the axle, causing the axle to not be properly lubricated.
