What is involved in a Repaired Axle Assembly?

The first step in a repaired axle assembly is disassembly. The ring gear, bearing set, axle shafts, and rotors on the axle are removed exposing the bare housing with the pinion bearing and shaft still in place. To be able to straighten the axle if it is bent, a lathe is required. The lathe prevents issues from happening in the future and allows us to bring the axle back to factory specifications. A replacement spindle end built in-house allow will be welded onto the axle when your spindle end has failed. To complete the process we reassemble, paint and fill the axle with fluid.

How is a rebuilt axle assembly done?

Rebuilding an axle requires the axle to be torn down to the bare housing. The axle is then cleaned inside and out. We use high-quality OEM ring and pinion to replace the ring and pinion in the axle. Also, the bearings in the axle are also replaced. We trust Timken for the replacement bearings. Timken has a great reputation in the bearing industry and is the industry benchmark for bearings. All seals in the axle are replaced as well. We use previously used axles for axle shafts and make sure to inspect them thoroughly before use. if a rotor is bolted behind the hub, the rotors are turned or replaced to make sure the brakes can have new pads applied. The axle is then finally reassembled, painted, and filled with fluid to complete the process.
