Our professionals at Houston Rebuilt Axles have over 75 years of experience performing axle repairs and rebuilds. Our shop also has the equipment needed to perform axle repairs and rebuilds. The equipment includes our lathe as well. Our lathe is used to straighten axles and restore them to factory specifications. In addition, our axles can be delivered anywhere in the country, including Detroit. With our courier service, we can also deliver axles door-to-door throughout Detroit, including an auto shop of your choice.

At HRA, we also use Timken bearings. Precision and tight tolerances are key characteristics of Timken bearings. At HRA, we trust Timken bearings for our axle rebuilds. Additionally, our axle repair and rebuild services are covered by our warranty. Axles can also be modified for any use. For example, narrowing an axle for hotrods or modifying the axle for off-roading.

What is the process of repairing an axle?

The first step in our axle repair is to remove all the axle components. The purpose is to clean the parts and inspect them, as well as to expose the bare housing. The next step is to remove the ring gears, axle shafts, and bearing sets from the axle. Next, the axle is placed on the lathe. The axle is then straightened by our experts by using our lathe. We can also restore the axle to factory specifications using the lathe. Furthermore, our lathe allows us to avoid future issues. Any damaged axle spindle ends are then replaced. Spindle end replacements are manufactured in-house, and you cannot buy them separately. The axle is then painted, reassembled, and filled with fluids.

Rebuilding Axle Assemblies – what is the process?

HRA’s experts disassemble the axle first to inspect the components and also expose the bare housing. Then, we thoroughly clean each component. After the ring and pinion sets are replaced, we replace them with high-quality OEM replacements. Then we replace all the axle bearings. When we rebuild axles, Timken bearings are trusted, as they are the industry standard.

We replace all the seals on the axle after replacing all the bearings with Timken bearings. Then, we replace the axle shafts on the axle with the refurbished axle shafts that have been thoroughly inspected. We can also use new axle shafts if necessary. Following this, brake pads need to be replaced. This is accomplished by first checking if a rotor is bolted behind the hub. We then turn or replace the rotor to ensure that the brake pads are properly applied. The brake pad is then applied. We then reassemble the axle, paint it, and fill it with fluids.
