Our specialists at Houston Rebuilt Axles have both the equipment and the know-how to perform axle rebuilds and repairs of the highest quality. We have over 75 years of expertise in axle rebuilds. We also have the equipment, like our lathe, required to repair or rebuild axles. Receiving and delivery of axles are able to happen anywhere in the United States also. We use a courier service that allows for door-to-door delivery of axles to anywhere in the country including customers located in Boston.
At HRA we employ the use of industry-standard bearings in our axle rebuilds. Those bearings come from Timken, a highly respected company in the bearing industry. In addition, you are able to trust our axle repair and rebuilds as they are covered by our warranty. We can also modify an axle for any purpose. These include modifying an axle for off-roading or also narrowing the axle for hot-rodding.
How a bent axle is repaired
The initial step is to remove components from the axle. This will then expose the bare housing. The components we remove are the ring gear, bearing set and also axle shafts. Following that, we place the axle onto our lathe. By using our lathe, our experts straighten the axle and we also restore the axle to factory specifications. This also ensures the axle will not have any issues in the future. If there are any damaged spindle ends on the axle, they get replaced with our built in-house replacement spindle ends. In the end, we then reassemble the axle, and then paint it and fill the axle with fluids.
How are our Axle Assembly Rebuilds performed?
The beginning of the axle rebuild process is exposing the bare housing of the axle. To do this, we disassemble the axle, removing any components on the axle. Following that, all the parts of the axle are thoroughly cleaned. Our specialists at HRA will then replace the ring and pinion set with a high-quality OEM replacement. We then use the previously mentioned high-quality Timken bearings. The bearings are then used to replace any bearings on the axle.
Next, we replace the seals on the axle with new replacements. By using a thoroughly inspected refurbished axle shaft we replace the axle shafts on the axle. We can also use a new axle shaft if it is required. We then apply a new brake pad. To replace the brake pad, if a rotor is bolted behind the hub the rotor is rotated or replaced to ensure proper application. We then reassemble, paint and fill the axle with fluids.
