How we Repair an Axle

The first step in the axle repair process is removing components down to the bare housing. Our experts at HRA will remove components such as the ring gear, rotors, bearing set, and axle shafts from the axle. Next, the axle is taken to be put on our lathe. Our experts will then use the lathe to straighten the axle. We also use the lathe to shape the axle back to factory specifications. This restoration of the axle prevents any future issues that may occur in the future. Following that, our specialists at HRA remove any spindles on the axle if they have been damaged. We also manufacture a replacement spindle end in-house. We will then take that replacement spindle end and weld it onto the axle. The final step involves our team reassembling the axle, painting the axle, and then filling the axle with fluid.

How does a Rebuilt Axle Assembly happen?

The axle first needs to be stripped down to the bare housing, removing the various components off of it. Following that, we take the axle to be thoroughly cleaned. Then our experts will remove the old ring and pinion set and replace it with a high-quality replacement manufactured by an OEM. Afterward, the axle bearings are removed and replaced. The axle bearings are replaced with Timken bearings. Timken is the manufacturer of high-quality bearings that many consider the industry benchmark of bearings.

We then replace the axle shafts on the axle. The axle shafts we use are taken from repurposed axles that have been thoroughly inspected for road safety. A new axle shaft can be used if required. The next step involves checking if a rotor is bolted behind the hub. If there is one, then the rotor is replaced or turned to ensure that a replacement brake pad can be applied. Finally, we reassemble, paint and fill the axle with fluid.
