What is involved in an axle repair?

Repairing an axle is a good option for your axle as it is cheaper than rebuilding an axle. Rebuilding and repairing an axle may seem similar but rebuilding an axle generally has more expensive parts. Repairing an axle starts by tearing down the axle. This involves removing the axle shafts, bearing set, ring gear and rotors from the rear end. We keep the pinion shaft and also pinion bearing installed. We then will straighten the axle on our lathe as needed. Then the housing will be cleaned and the bearings will also be inspected. Any damaged spindle ends will then be replaced with our built in-house replacement spindle ends. We then reassemble, paint and fill the axle with fluids, making the axle ready to install.

How we perform our rebuilt axle assemblies

Our rebuild axle assemblies go through a similar process to an axle repair. Disassembling the axle, and also cleaning it thoroughly. We then replace the ring and pinion with a high-quality OEM replacement. Next, we will replace all the bearings in the axle. Our experts use Timken bearings in our axle rebuilds. Timken is known for its precise tolerances and is the benchmark in the bearing industry.

We will then replace all the seals on the axle. We also use Timken seals on carriers and axle shafts. Also, we replace all used seals with new seals. For rebuilt rear axles, we use refurbished axle shafts that have been inspected thoroughly. We will also purchase a new axle shaft if necessary. Next, if a rear axle has the rotors bolted on behind the hub, we will replace or turn it. We do this process to allow new pads to be properly installed. Should you decide to purchase a rebuilt axle from us, we will then need your axle as an exchange. Following that, like the axle repair, we reassemble, paint and then fill the axle with fluid.
