Rebuilt and Repaired Axles for Baltimore

At Houston Rebuilt Axles (HRA) we provide vehicle owners in Baltimore the best rebuilt and repaired axles. Our team has been performing these services for over 75 years of combined experience. Not only that, but at our shop, we have the equipment needed to restore axles to factory specifications. One piece of equipment is our lathe. We ship axles to any location in Baltimore and also the United States. We employ a courier service that allows door-to-door shipping and picking up of axles from any house or mechanic.

At HRA our bearings and seals of choice come from Timken. Timken is well known as the benchmark in the bearing industry. They are also known for their highly precise tolerances. Our axle rebuilds are also under warranty. This both means that you can know our axles are reliable and trustworthy. We don’t just repair axles also. We are able to modify axles and differentials for any purpose. You could narrow an axle for hot rods, for example. Or you could get your differential modified for off-roading. Whatever you need, we have you covered.

What does an axle repair involve?

If your axle isn’t very damaged, repairing an axle is a good option. Repairing is a cheaper alternative to rebuilding. First, to repair an axle we first disassemble and remove the components on the axle. This means that then the rotors, ring gear, bearing set and axle shafts are removed from the rear end. The pinion bearing and shaft are kept installed. Following that, we will use our lathe to straighten the axle if required. Then, we will clean the housing and inspect all the bearings. Any damaged spindle ends are replaced with our built in-house spindle ends. Assembling, painting and filling the axle concludes the repair. The axle is now ready to be installed.

How do we perform our rebuilt axle assemblies?

Similarly to repairing an axle, the first step is also to disassemble the axle. We also will thoroughly clean the axle. The ring and pinion set will be replaced with a high-quality replacement from an OEM. Then we will replace the axle’s bearings with replacements from Timken. We trust Timken for both the bearings and seals we use as replacements on our axle rebuilds. Timken is a very well-regarded company in the bearing industry and is known for their tight tolerances.

Then, the seals on the axle are replaced. High-quality Timken seals are also used on the carriers and also axle shafts. Next, we replace the axle shafts on our rebuilt rear axles with refurbished axle shafts. Our refurbished axle shafts have been thoroughly inspected and tested. We will use a new axle shaft should it be needed. If the rear axle has rotors bolted on behind the hub, we will then turn or replace the rotor. This allows us to ensure proper application of the brake pads. Also, we will need your damaged axle as an exchange if you purchase an axle from us. The axle repair is then completed in the same way as the repair, by assembling, painting and filling the axle with fluid.
